Ride & Refresh

Bike and Cart Rentals

Ohiopyle is located at mile marker 72 on the Great Allegheny Passage. The Great Allegheny Passage is part of a 335 mile bicycle trail system that connects Pittsburgh, PA to Washington, D.C. The section of trail from Ohiopyle, PA to Confluence, PA is a 11 mile section that was the first completed in 1985 and still remains one of the most popular sections of trail to ride. Along the way, you will pass information kiosks provided by Ohiopyle State Park describing the importance of railroads, what frontier life was like, and the other wonders of the Yough River Bike Trail. This stretch of trail has a slight 1-3% uphill grade as you head upstream, with the return ride feeling slightly easier, helped by the gradient. The town of Connellsville is the next town downstream of Ohiopyle, 17 miles away. This stretch starts off with the High Bridge, which is a 120 foot tall converted railroad bridge that spans the Youghiogheny River. This bridge is only one mile down the trail from the trailhead and offers one of the most spectacular vistas of the Yough River. Continuing downstream, there are side trails that lead down to the river at some of the Lower Yough’s most famous rapids. This section of trail has a 3-4% downhill gradient as you travel away from Ohiopyle so the return journey feels slightly more difficult. Regardless of which way you choose to ride, we have the equipment for you. We rent top of the line Trek Bicycles and we maintain our fleet with a bicycle mechanic on duty for any last minute adjustments. We are also constantly updating our fleet with new bicycles purchased every year. Our comfort series bicycles, Trek Shift 3’s or Trek Verve 3's, are the most popular option. Armed with up to 27 speeds, hand brakes, and a suspension system, these bike are comfortable and make zipping along the trail seem as easy as bicycling was when you were a kid. We also have single speed cruisers, for those looking for a simpler ride, and a vast array of kids bikes and attachments so children can ride along.
